Teacher Aide

POSITION:                                                          

  • Teacher Aide – 3 positions
  • District Wide assigned to Elementary

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This is work involving responsibility for assisting school teachers in the performance of their non-teaching duties through a variety of activities related to the learning process. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, administrator, or a senior official in accordance with well-established procedures. Does related work as required.
  • Orange County Civil Service Title #1680 (found on OC website -Municipal/School Classification Specification)
  • Position entails toileting responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:           

  • Working knowledge of classroom routine; ability to establish and maintain good relationships with students, teachers and others within the school; ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; ability to maintain discipline; clerical aptitude; resourcefulness; tact; courtesy; good judgement; neat personal appearance; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • Minimum Qualification High School Diploma

SALARY:              

  • As per the CSEA Contract

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 1-year probationary
  • 190 days
  • 6.25 hours per day

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate NYS Certification- B-2, 1-6
  • TESOL/Bilingual preferred
  • Experience with small group intervention & enrichment

SALARY:       

  • Salary will be determined in accordance with the WTA contract based on the individual’s prior training and level of experience.

  • Possible LOA

Nurse Substitutes

Position:  Substitute School Nurse  (Continuous Recruitment)

Description: Performs professional nursing services, including maintaining acceptable health standards, school health records, emergency treatment of students and employees. 

Qualifications:  Must hold appropriate Certification approved by NYS Education Department 

Salary:         

  • Substitute RN $175 per diem
  • Substitute LPN $150 per diem

Teaching Substitutes

Position: Substitute Instructional Staff

Job Description:

  • Substitute Teacher (per diem substitutes both certified and non-certified positions) Responsible for providing instruction and managing classroom environments in the absence of the regular teacher.  SED fingerprint clearance will be required prior to hire.
  • Substitute Teaching Assistants (per diem substitutes both certified and non-certified positions) Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with classroom management and instruction. May provide services to a student on a one-to-one basis. The position may include toileting. SED fingerprint clearance will be required prior to hire.

Pay Scale

  • Certified Teacher Sub = $130 per diem
  • Certified Retired WTA Teacher Sub = $150 per diem
  • Non-Certified Teacher Sub = $115 per diem
  • Teaching Assistant Sub = $16 per hour

Non-Teaching Substitutes

Position:   Non-Instructional Substitutes

Description: Washingtonville CSD is looking for non-instructional personnel to work on a per diem basis.  All positions require the applicant to have fingerprint clearance and a High School Diploma.  

  • Substitute Food Service Workers - 3.75 hours a day @ $15.50 per hour
  • Substitute Clerical Workers 7.5 hour shift @  $17.50 per hour
  • Substitute Monitors - 3-hour recess monitor, up to 7-hour hall monitor, bus monitor split shift @ $15.50 per hour
  • Substitute Custodians - 8-hour shift @ $16.80 per hour
